Deepam Oil

For the brass diya, the temple, the morning prayer that has not changed.

Deepam oil scene

Deepam oil is not a cooking oil. It is the oil for the lamp — for the brass diya lit at the threshold of the morning, for the temple, for the puja that asks the day to begin properly. We press it separately, in its own batch, and we bottle it apart from the kitchen oils so the two are never confused.

The blend is plant-based — sesame, gingelly, and other seed oils — formulated to burn cleanly with a steady, smokeless flame that does not soot the household’s brass. There is no animal fat in our deepam. There is no kerosene, no paraffin, no mineral oil. A clay diya needs an oil older than petroleum.

The deepam is one of the few products we make that is unchanged in form since 1965. The bottle has changed; the label has changed; the press has been rebuilt three times. The blend has not. A family lighting the lamp this morning is lighting it with the same oil their parents and grandparents used.

For households, temples, and trustees who buy in bulk for daily ritual use, we offer the 5L size and a wholesale enquiry route. Make a trade enquiry.
